Our hostess in Nigeria will be artist and educator, Nike Davies-Okundaye.
We will stay at her guesthouses in Abuja, Oshogbo, Lagos, and her hometown,
Ogidi. Her accommodations are built with Nigerian style and maintained to
international standards. She will also provide ground transportation in her
Toyota minivan.
Nigeria is a fascinating and challenging country. It sustains a
spiritual tradition that has inspired faith in Africa and the Americas for
generations, and it is home to a vibrant culture of art, music, and dance.

Join us on our pilgrimage to the Festival of the Goddess Oshun at her
source on the banks of the Oshun River at Oshogbo. We will explore the
rich culture of the Yoruba people from the popular contemporary arts of
Oshogbo to traditional weaving and dyeing in the unspoilt village of Ogidi
and the markets and museums in Abuja, the Federal Capital, and Lagos, the
bustling commercial center of the country.

Our group will be limited to no more than 10 people. Since we will be
originating our journeys from various places, we will make our individual
ways to Europe and fly together from there to Nigeria.
$2700 will cover airfare from Europe including travel documents, travel
insurance, most accommodation and food, and ground transportation in
Nigeria.
It is essential that everyone consult their doctor well in advance in
departure, have all necessary innoculations, and obtain anti-malarial drugs.
A $500 deposit by the end of April to hold the booking.
Full payment will be due by May 31. We hope you will join us.
We will attend the Oshun Festival dedicated to the River Goddess at Oshogbo.
We will tour Lagos and visit the National Museum. In Oshogbo we will be
entertained by the Nike Centre Dance Troupe, visit artists¹ studios, and a
Fulani village. On to Ogidi in Kogi State, Nike¹s hometown, where she has
revived the arts of handweaving and indigo dyeing among the women there.
There are also traditional potters active in the village. This will be an
opportunity to get to know and learn from a unique group of craftspeople and
enjoy the beauty and peace of an unspoilt African village. We will also make
a stop in Abuja, the new capital of Nigeria to see a totally different side
of Africa today.
